Morning gulls, Hatton<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

You have got to be there at the right time to get a dramatic sky picture.\u00a0\u00a0 Over the past few weeks I have been noticing the beautiful effects in the eastern sky, just before the sun comes up.\u00a0 Time and time again I have walked down the shop to get the paper, noticed the sky and gone back for my camera, only to discover that I am too late and the effect has gone.\u00a0\u00a0 But I was ready this morning!\u00a0\u00a0 I took my camera with me as I went out for an early Sunday morning walk with Lily the dog.\u00a0 I had noticed the interesting silhouette effect of the bare branches of the tree, and using a telephoto lens, I framed it up against the reddening sky.\u00a0 Just at that moment a flock of gulls flew into the picture.\u00a0 Luck!\u00a0 Other pictures I took at the same time, in the same place, but without the birds, look uninspired in comparison.\u00a0\u00a0 You have got to be there at the right time.<\/p>\n

After my article last week on winter skies, I thought I would try a few more shots on my November morning walk and managed to take a couple of nice pictures of the morning sky.\u00a0\u00a0 But when I tried a shot of the mast and wind turbines on Gallows Hill, the colourhad gone out of the sky and it is not nearly so dramatic.<\/p>\n

What was dramatic, though, was the group of half a dozen roe deer in the distance, in the field between Auchlethen and the main road.\u00a0 Lily spotted them, and they spotted Lily.<\/p>\n

I have been noticing recently how casual the deer seem to be.\u00a0 They stand and watch you, before sauntering off.\u00a0\u00a0 This deer was just on the limit of my camer’s ca[ability, and the light was not great.\u00a0 the picture will never win any prizes, but it will help me remember the morning of the red sky, the gulls and the deer.<\/p>\n
