{"id":2240,"date":"2016-04-23T16:12:07","date_gmt":"2016-04-23T15:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=2240"},"modified":"2016-04-23T16:12:24","modified_gmt":"2016-04-23T15:12:24","slug":"celebrating-the-bard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=2240","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating the Bard"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"shariff\" data-title=\"Celebrating the Bard\" data-info-url=\"\" data-backend-url=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/shariff-sharing\/backend\/index.php\" data-temp=\"\/tmp\" data-ttl=\"60\" data-service=\"gft\" data-services='[\"googleplus\",\"facebook\",\"twitter\",\"info\"]' data-image=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/1967_StAndrewsCastle_MayDay-x.jpg\" data-url=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=2240\" data-lang=\"en\" data-theme=\"color\" data-orientation=\"horizontal\"><\/div><p>All the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare&#8217;s death today have brought back memories of a special performance which Mary and I attended of the Bard&#8217;s &#8220;Scottish Play&#8221;, (since you are not supposed to use its title!)\u00a0\u00a0 It was about 1967, when we were students together at St Andrews.\u00a0 The performance was outdoors, in the ruins of St Andrew&#8217;s Castle.\u00a0 I still recall sitting there, wrapped up in blankets as the fog rolled in and shrouded the castle &#8211;
