{"id":3009,"date":"2016-08-30T22:20:47","date_gmt":"2016-08-30T21:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=3009"},"modified":"2016-08-31T09:18:48","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T08:18:48","slug":"strathlene-revisied","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=3009","title":{"rendered":"Strathlene revisied"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"shariff\" data-title=\"Strathlene revisied\" data-info-url=\"\" data-backend-url=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/shariff-sharing\/backend\/index.php\" data-temp=\"\/tmp\" data-ttl=\"60\" data-service=\"gft\" data-services='[\"googleplus\",\"facebook\",\"twitter\",\"info\"]' data-image=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7910.jpg\" data-url=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=3009\" data-lang=\"en\" data-theme=\"color\" data-orientation=\"horizontal\"><\/div><p>The last time I visited Strathlene beach at Buckie was in\u00a0 the\u00a0winter of 2006.\u00a0 I was returning home after conducting a funeral at the Moray Crematorium in the Old Enzie Kirk at Broadley.\u00a0\u00a0I decided to pay a quick visit to Buckie to see how the town where we lived for ten years in the 1970s and 80s had changed, and I stopped off at my favourite Buckie beach to eat my sandwiches.\u00a0 The sun was shining that day, but there was a true Buckie gale blowing and it was bitterly cold, not exactly the weather to explore what remained of the old outdoor swimming\u00a0pool and the beaches and rocks where the children had played, and where Nero our delinquent Labrador would regularly run off, only to return in his on good time.<\/p>\n<p>There was something else on my mind that day in 2006 too.\u00a0 Mary was away, visiting Rosie and family\u00a0 in\u00a0Oman\u00a0 We were looking for a house at the time for our planned move from Aberdeen, and while she was away I had found a possible house in Hatton.\u00a0 I would pay a quick visit there on my way home.\u00a0 As it turned out that was the house which would become our new home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7910.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3016\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7910.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7910\" width=\"1000\" height=\"562\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7910.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7910-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7910-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7910-624x351.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now nearly\u00a0ten years later I was at Strathlene again, this time Mary was with me, and Lily and Poppy.\u00a0 Again I had been at the Moray Crematorium and we had decided to take a quick drive through Buckie, stopping for a while to let the dogs stretch their legs on the beach.\u00a0\u00a0 The weather, however was quite different:\u00a0 this was a still, muggy, late August afternoon.\u00a0\u00a0 As we walked along the beach we recalled visits there when the children were small, sometimes with grandparents.\u00a0\u00a0 This is the only sandy beach in Buckie, and on the fine summer days it would be a favourite\u00a0place to visit, paddling in the water, digging in the sand, exploring among the rocks.\u00a0 And it was here at Strathlene we would hold\u00a0evening barbecues with the Buckie North Church youth group.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3015\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3015\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7908.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3015 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7908.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_7908\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7908.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7908-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7908-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/IMG_7908-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3015\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Looking towards Buckie. is a pictures of Mary, Donald and Nero on the beach in 1975, and a delightful picture of little Donald on the same occasion.\u00a0 The original pictures are now quite orange with age, but it is from an old slide of waves at Strathlene, quite different to the calm still water we found today.\u00a0 The slide was taken a little father along the coast than we ventured today, towards
