{"id":3326,"date":"2016-11-17T08:28:16","date_gmt":"2016-11-17T08:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=3326"},"modified":"2016-11-17T08:28:16","modified_gmt":"2016-11-17T08:28:16","slug":"the-dawn-comes-us-like-thunder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=3326","title":{"rendered":"The dawn comes us like thunder"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"shariff\" data-title=\"The dawn comes us like thunder\" data-info-url=\"\" data-backend-url=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/plugins\/shariff-sharing\/backend\/index.php\" data-temp=\"\/tmp\" data-ttl=\"60\" data-service=\"gft\" data-services='[\"googleplus\",\"facebook\",\"twitter\",\"info\"]' data-image=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8278.jpg\" data-url=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/?p=3326\" data-lang=\"en\" data-theme=\"color\" data-orientation=\"horizontal\"><\/div><p>I was so focussed yesterday morning trying to capture a picture of the super moon as it was setting that I quite forgot that, as I was facing west, in the east behind me, the sun was about to rise.\u00a0\u00a0 The sky to the west was a grey blue colour, but when I turned and looked towards the sea,\u00a0everything was bright orange, and there was the distinctive spire of the Church of St James the Less silhouetted, on the horizon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8278.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3330\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8278.jpg\" alt=\"img_8278\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8278.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8278-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8278-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/blog.couttsweb.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_8278-624x351.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can see that spire from all round the area.\u00a0 Indeed it is said that the Earl of Errol who lived in Slains Castle arranged for the church to be built there at Chapelhill with a spire that would seem more at home on an English village church, to ensure that there was a pleasing view from the castle.<\/p>\n<p>You can certainly see the spire from the castle and you can see it from the high ground in Hatton, at Hobshill and Northfield farm where I stood in awe yesterday as I watched the huge disk of the sun peep over the horizon, beside the church.<\/p>\n<p>I had a big telephoto lens on the camera and I was able to capture a lovely picture of the spire through some branches, just as some geese flew by.\u00a0 The words of Rudyard Kipling came to mind, \u00a0&#8220;The dawn comes up like thunder outer\u00a0China &#8216;crost the Bay.&#8221;
