Pussy willows and snowdrops

IMG_8170

I have always loved pussy willows.  With the first signs of spring they appear.   My mother loved them too and she would take some into the house each year to put in a vase with daffodils.   I also remember having a “nature table” in primary school and we would watch as the pussy willows on the table gradually sprouted into pale green leaves.

Perhaps the daffodils are not quite out yet but my eye landed on some pussy willows this morning as I had was out with the dog quite early.  It had been raining in the night and there were drops of water sparking in the morning sun on the velvety coats.  Now there was a challenge for a photographer!

Perhaps the daffodils are not yet out but Hatton has a wonderful display of snowdrops.  I think there are more than ever this year.  Perhaps it is the mild winter.  I was too lazy today to get down with my big camera to snap the snowdrops, but my mobile phone did quite a good job.  the two close ups were taken on a table in the house to allow me to get very close.
