I borrowed a model of an old fishing boat for this photograph. I had come up with the idea of placing the boat on the beach and seeing how it looked in the glorious sunshine. There was one problem – I had to walk a fair bit from the car across the footbridge over the River Ugie and along the sand to get the view I had in mind. There were a number of people about, but believe it or not, no one asked what I was doing with a boat, nearly three feet long under my arm.
After a little experimenting with different places, I lay down on the sand and took a number of pictures of the boat beached at Craigewan beach at Peterhead.
