Catch the moment

We ventured way out of Cruden country last weekend, to Blairs outside Aberdeen to be exact.  And what a wonderful Saturday afternoon it was.  Good fun, good company and the sun shone!   Mary and Lily the dog had been invited along to a Fun Day and barbecue organised by Ace Agility Dog Training.  And I was asked to take some photographs.  Donald, our son and his partner Fiona are keen members of this group, along with their four dogs.

Lily had her first taste of jumping in that field a few years ago when she was just a pup.  But we had not been back since then.   it was good to renew old friendships and join in the fun with the the dedicated group of dog handlers who spend their training time there under the watchful eye and guidance of Yvonne Reid.

What a lovely setting it is – a little field surrounded by trees on the high ground above Blairs College.  Just the place for dogs and humans to have some fun.  Mary enjoyed herself;  Lily certainly enjoyed herself, coming away with a special certificate for her efforts. And I managed to bag a couple of hundred pictures of the dogs in action, frozen in what I hope is a dramatic moment in time.  It is quite hard to catch the right moment. I threw away lots of pictures, as all you see is a dog’s tail exiting the picture, or the bar of the jump blocking doggy smiles.  But I am quite delighted with the final results, and so are the owners who are asking for copies.  I love to see the dogs captured flying through the air….and dogs do smile!

A big thanks to Yvonne and the members of Act Agility for inviting us along.

That's the way to do it.
